Description: - A Victorian Sterling Silver replica Scottish basket hilted broad sword letter opener with scabbard and short chain. The basket hilted handle is beautifully crafted with a pierced decoration, leading to a double edged blade, held within a scabbard on a short chain. The letter opener is hallmarked London 1873, made by the silversmith E.H. Stockwell, and stamped with the retailer's mark of Thornhill, 144 New Bond St. The scabbard is stamped with kite registration mark.

Engraving: - The sword is engraved '378'.
Measurement: - The letter opener measures 15.3 cm in length x 2.9cm (basket hilt width) x 2.6cm (basket hilt depth). With the sword in its scabbard the total measurement is 16.1cm (length).
Weight: - 33.3 grams.
Condition: - Minor tarnishing and wear to the letter opener. A couple of minor dings to the sword and scabbard commensurate with age. Hallmarks are clear. Please see photographs for confirmation of condition.
