Description: - A Victorian 18ct yellow gold, split pearl, black enamel, and hair panel memorial ring. The ring has a central hair panel, surrounded by 14 seed pearls, and a border of black enamel.

The ring comes in its original box, accompanied by a folded note that presumably identifies the individual being mourned. However, the handwriting on the note is difficult to decipher.

The ring is hallmarked with Chester assay marks, and '18' to denote 18 carat gold, and date letter 'S' for 1881.

Assay: - .750 Gold (18ct).

Period: - Late 19th Century.

Engraving: - Unengraved.

Measurement: - UK ring size O (leading edge). US ring size 7 1/2 (leading edge). The head of the ring measures 11.0mm (height) x 14.0mm (width).

Weight: - 4.7 grams.

Condition: - The memorial ring displays minor surface abrasion and chips to the enamel. Light wear to the pearls nacre. Pearls untested for origin. The gold shank appears to be of hollow construction and displays minor marks commensurate with age. Please see photos for confirmation of condition.
