French Art Nouveau Silver Cigarette Case and Vesta Case Set

Description: - A French Art Nouveau silver cigarette case and vesta case set by Charles Murat. The cigarette case and vesta case are both of oblong form with hinged cover, embossed throughout with sprigs of mistletoe; the cigarette case with gilt-wash interior. The set are stored in their original case which is signed 'Mon Barbreau Vivier Luc Angouleme'
Assay: - .800 Boar small guarantee mark (used between 1838 - 1962).
Date: - Circa 1900.
Engraving: - Unengraved.
Maker: - Stamped with the 1897 registered maker’s mark "CM and a mulberry with two leaves", for Charles Murat.
Measurement: - Cigarette case: 7.0cm (width) x 8.4cm (length) x 1.4cm (depth). Vesta case: 3.4cm (width) x 4.6cm (length) x 1.0cm (depth). (1 inch = 25.4mm)
Weight: - 101.4 grams (combined weight).
Condition: - The hinges both work well and close tightly. There are no splits, damage or repairs. Light surface marks, scratches, and tarnishing commensurate with age. Internal elastic bands to the cigarette case are slightly worn and perishing. The case that contains the set is a little worn around the edges, and its outer clasp is damaged, meaning it does not close as intended. Please see photos for confirmation of condition.
