Description: - A George I 18ct yellow gold, rock crystal, hair-work, and black enamel mourning ring. The gold ring bears the inscription "W : DEWE · OB: 22 · NOV, 1725 · AET: 58", within a black enamel band. This inscription signifies that W. DEWE died on the 22nd of Nov, 1725, at the age of 58.

As was common for the period the ring is unhallmarked and has been tested and confirmed to be 18 carat gold fineness, with silver foliate shoulders. 

Period: - Early 18th Century.

Date: - Circa 1725.

Engraving: - The ring is unengraved.

Measurement: - UK ring size I 1/2 (leading edge). US ring size 4 1/2 (leading edge).

The band measures 2.5mm in width. The rock crystal measures 4.5mm x 5.5mm.

Weight: - 2.1 grams.

Condition: - The band and the enamel on the ring are in good condition, displaying light surface scratches to the gold, and a few minor chips and nicks to the enamel commensurate with age. The rock crystal has minor surface abrasion to the facet edges. Please see photos for confirmation of condition.
