Description: - A George III 18ct gold acrostic "LOVE" pendant brooch. The pendant brooch is set with a central line of lapis lazuli, opal, vermeil garnet, and emerald gemstones spelling 'love'. The gemstones are set on a matted and foliate chased background, surrounded by a border of fine cannetille work, and a glazed locket compartment to the reverse, all suspended by a double fine-link gold chain. As was common for the period, the pendant brooch is unhallmarked, and has been tested, and confirmed to be 18 karat (carat) gold fineness. The piece can be worn as either a pendant or a brooch.

Date: - Circa 1820s.

Engraving: - None.

Measurement: - The pendant including bale measures 4.2 cm (height) x 3.2 cm (length) x 0.9cm (depth).

Weight: - 9.3 grams.

Condition: - The antique pendant brooch is in good condition. The Lapis Lazuli, Opal, Vermeil Garnet, & Emerald gemstones display minimal wear. The brooch pin and (later replacement) clasp both work perfectly. Gemstone treatment is unknown.
