Description: - A emerald and diamond lizard brooch, circa 1895. The brooch is crafted in silver to the front and backed in rose gold, with rose-cut emerald eyes, an engraved head, body, and tail that is highlighted with graduated rose-cut diamonds. The brooch is stamped to the C clasp with an indistinct mark. The brooch has been tested as silver and 9ct gold minimum fineness. In Victorian times the lizard symbolised ‘wedded bliss’ and was given as a special wedding or anniversary gift.

Measurement: - The brooch measures 5.5cm (length) x 1.8cm (height) x 1.2cm (depth).
Weight: - The brooch weighs 10.1 grams. 0.32 troy ounces.
Condition: - The pin, and clasp both work perfectly. The diamonds, & emeralds are all hand-cut, and in good condition. The tail has been lightly drilled to allow a safety chain to be attached if desired. Gemstone treatment is unknown.
