Description: - A William IV 18ct yellow gold, split pearl, black enamel, and hair panel mourning ring. The ring has a central hair panel, and bears the inscription "IN MEMORY OF", between scrolling scallop shell detailing. It is inscribed to the interior with "John Atkinson OBt 2 Dec, 1833 aet, 67." The ring is hallmarked with a duty mark, "18" to denote 18 carat gold, and London date letter 'S' for 1833.

Assay: - .750 Gold (18ct).

Date: - 1833.

Period: - Early 19th Century.

Engraving: - "John Atkinson OBt 2 Dec, 1833 aet, 67.

Measurement: - UK ring size M 1/2 measured to the leading edge. US ring size 6 1/4 measured to the leading edge. The face of the ring measures 11.0mm (height) x 13.0mm (length).

Weight: - 5.2 grams.

Condition: - The memorial ring displays minor surface scratches to the enamel commensurate with age. Light wear to the pearls nacre. One of the split pearls appears to be a replacement with signs of residue/glue around the perimeter when viewed under magnification. The replacement pearl is well matched in terms of colour compared to the other pearls. Please see photos for confirmation of condition.
