Description: - A Victorian yellow gold garnet cabochon ring. The ring is mounted with an oval cabochon garnet in a closed back setting between scroll engraved shoulders. The ring has been hallmarked Birmingham, '18' to denote 18 carat gold, and date letter 'T' for 1868.

Assay: - 18ct.

Date: - 1868.

Measurement: - UK ring size U. US ring size 10 1/4. The garnet cabochon measures 13mm x 10mm.

Weight: - 6.8 grams / 0.22 troy ounces.

Condition: - Light surface scratches to the shank commensurate with age. The garnet displays light surface wear. The ring displays evidence of having previously been resized. The section of gold used to resize (and make the ring larger) tests as 14ct gold. Gemstone treatment is unknown. Please see photos for confirmation of condition.
