Assay: - .925 (Sterling silver).

Period: - Late 19th century.

Date: - 1896 & 1897.

Engraving: - None.

Measurement: - 15 13/16 inches (40.2cm) in length end to end (to include the fob). The chain measures 14 1/4 inches (36.2cm) end to end. The fob measures 1 5/8 inches (4.2cm) in length. The links measure 7.0mm (at widest point).

Weight: - 38.7 grams.

Condition: - The sterling silver albert chain is in good antique condition - light tarnishing. The dog-clip, T-bar; and each chain link are stamped with the lion passant to denote sterling silver. The T-bar, dog-clip, and one of the chain links are stamped with the date letter 'w' to denote 1896. The dog-clip is stamped with the makers maker 'H.W.A' for H. W. Ashford & Co, while it is expected that the T-bar and chain both have the same mark, which are both poorly stamped.  The fob is hallmarked Birmingham, 1897, and with the makers mark 'W.W.C' for William Walter Cashmore.  Please see photographs for confirmation of condition.
