Description: - A George III silver Nutmeg grater by the silversmith John Shaw, Birmingham 1808. The nutmeg grater is of navette form, with pricked borders, repeating leafy scrolls around the cover, and leafy foliate pattern to the base. The hinged hallmarked cover opens to reveal the steel grating grille that itself hinges open.

Date: - 1808.

Period: - 19th Century.

Engraving: - Foliate engraving.

Maker: - John Shaw.

Measurement: - 2.5cm (height) x 4.7cm (length) x 2.8cm (depth).

Weight: - 34.4 grams.

Condition: - The nutmeg grater is in good condition with light surface scratches, tarnishing, and marks commensurate with age. The cover hinge, and steel grater hinge both close tightly. Please see photos for confirmation of condition.
