Description: - A Victorian sterling silver engraved Christening mug. The mug is of tapering circular form, profusely engraved with foliate scrolls, masks, and roundels, hollow scroll handle, gilt interior, circular cartouche to the front with monogram, with presentation inscription to a cartouche behind the handle and also to the underside.

Hallmarked with Chester assay marks, 1898, and the makers mark of Hilliard & Thomason.

Assay: - .925 (Sterling Silver).

Period: - Late 19th Century.

Date: - 1898.

Engraving: - Engraved to the cartouche to the front 'THB'. Engraved behind the handle with 'From Uncle Tom'. Engraved to the base 'THOMAS HOLME BARNETT. BAPTIZED OCTR 9TH 1898 AT ST NICHOLAS, GLOUCESTER J.W.BARNETT. T.G.BARNETT. M.PECK } GODPARENTS'.

Measurement: - Approximately 8.9cm (height) x 9.8cm (width to include handle) x 7.2cm (foot diameter). The mug can hold approximately 250ml - to the brim.

Weight: - 216.8 grams.

Condition: - The mug is in good condition, with light surface scratches, marks, and pitting commensurate with age. Please see photos for confirmation of condition.
