Description: - A George II 18ct yellow gold and black enamel mourning ring. The gold ring crafted in the Rococo style of the period, bears the inscription "ELIZ:STRONG.OB:12.APR:1758 AET:39", within a black enamel band. This inscription signifies that Eliz[abeth] Strong, died on the 12th of April, in 1758, at the age of 39.

As was common for the period the ring is unhallmarked and has been tested and confirmed to be 18 karat (carat) gold fineness. The ring is stamped with a goldsmiths makers mark, which is partially visible.

Date: - Circa 1758.

Period: - Mid 18th Century.

Engraving: - The ring is unengraved.

Measurement: - UK ring size V 3/4 (measured to the leading edge). US ring size 10 7/8 (measured to the leading edge).

The band measures 3.5mm in width. Approximate internal band diameter 20.9mm. Approximate exterior band diameter 23.9mm.

Weight: - 4.4 grams.

Condition: - The band and the enamel on the ring are in good condition, displaying light surface scratches to the gold, and a few minor chips and nicks to the enamel commensurate with age. Please see photos for confirmation of condition.
