Description: - A Victorian diamond and pearl metamorphic pendant brooch, circa 1880s.

The antique pendant brooch is set with a 5mm pearl to the centre of a daisy flower head, and each petal grain is set with an old European cut diamond. The pendant has an open star border, all grain set with old Swiss cut diamonds, to an oval, blade edge bar frame, cup and peg set with seed pearls, and old European cut diamonds in cut down collets. The piece is suspended by a detachable diamond set fleur-de-lys bale, and to the back is a brooch fitting in the form of a "C" clasp and pin.

As was common for the period the pendant brooch is unhallmarked, and has been tested to be silver fronted and back in 15 carat gold.

Date: - Circa 1880.

Engraving: - None.

Measurement: - The pendant including bale measures 5.0 cm (height) x 3.4 cm (width) x 2.0 cm (depth). The total diamond weight is approximately 2.12 carat.

Condition: - The mixed cut diamonds have a lovely sparkle. The pearls have a beautiful lustre, and are well matched in terms of colour. The bale is detachable to allow the pendant to be worn as a brooch. The brooch 'C' clasp and pin are both in place, and work as expected. Very minor surface wear, and tarnishing to the jewel commensurate with age and usage. Please note the pearls are untested and unwarranted for natural pearls. Gemstone treatment is unknown.
